Comments
Until recently the Tula area was the
only known habitat for Ariocarpus agavoides, however new locations
for the species have recently been discovered in San Luis Potosi. At Tula
the plants are still plentiful, although threatened by erosion and the
expansion of the town. On one of the sites quarrying activity is
extending. Plants in habitat are extremely well camouflaged, with the
healthiest specimens being found in the shade of small shrubs.
