Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus LRM123 This most southerly location for A. kotschoubeyanus we know of is at Bella Vista del Rio. This location has plants, which are generally larger (up to 8cm in diameter) than the more northerly plants with deep red flowers. This plant has been given the varietal name elephantidens, and if any kot is deserving of a varietal name it is this one. The habitats are not typically ‘kot’, being hillier with a limestone rock rather than gypsum substrate.
