Ariocarpus retusus LRM183

This population occurs sympatric with A. bravoanus ssp. hintonii although no evidence of hybridization has been seen. It seems that the A. retusus flower a few weeks prior to A. hintonii.  A.retusus favors the higher parts of the hill, whilst A. hintonii is more prolific lower down.
